Data Variety: What It’s All About

Smart Data Collective bases its recent article, “Data Variety: What It’s All About” on the NewVantage Partners 2012 Big Data Survey. As we pointed out in our report, it’s about variety, not volume.  We found that companies are focused on the variety of data, not its volume, both today and in three years from now. The most important goal and potential reward of Big Data initiatives is the ability to analyze diverse data sources and new data types, not managing very large data sets.  Smart Data Collective delivers an interesting look at the “curses and challenges” of data variety, but sees the opportunity, too, with the promise: “Data variety is the next winning star of big data as it holds the promise to a blooming business.”   It’s an interesting read worth checking out.
